Hello! Thank you for this amazing software.

I have drawn 2 charts in PD, mine and my girlfriend's. My chart drew perfectly, down to the degree. Hers did not. It changes her signs by quite a lot. For instance:

-Her natal moon shifts from 0 degrees Virgo, 8th House, to 26 degrees Leo, 11th House.
-Her ascendant goes from 20 degrees Sagittarius to 28 degrees Virgo.

Used the default Placidus settings in the Radix menu, and changed nothing. Simply entered the basic time/date/location information for both charts.

I checked, double-checked and triple-checked all the information I entered for her, and nothing is out of place. I cross-referenced against sources like astro.com, Time Nomad, Time Passages, etc...which all draw the same chart consistently based on the exact same information.

It makes me wonder if there is something amiss with the way the time-zone is calculated within PD for her chosen location?

Windsor, Canada, 83w01, 42n18

And yes, I did confirm that astro.com and the other apps I'm using for reference do indeed have the exact coordinates above.

Thank you for your time. Any information I can give you to better help you, just let me know.

Update: I Advanced the time in that chart to her exact planetary configuration according to the other reference charts, and it turns out that PD's calculations for her chart are off by exactly 6 hours, so i think there must be something up with the time-zone selection. That's my best guess.

Hi there - Jean will look into this, but could you let us know what you would have expected the time zone to be and whether summertime should have been in operation. I've just checked in PD and the correction for this place seems to vary quite a bit, but many dates either give +2 hours or + 3 hours. Most recent dates tend to give -5 hours or -4 hours. The database seems to be quite inconsistent for this place.

Jean - I've looked into the timezone. The same problem exists for Toronto. It seems to be that the coding for the zone changes from EDT and EST (correct for that part of the world) to EEDT and EEST which seems to apply to Eastern Europe, hence the jump from -ve correction to +ve corrections.

https://www.timeanddate.com/time/zone/canada/toronto

Year   Date & Time   Abbreviation   Time Change   Offset After
1850 — 1894   No changes, UTC -5:17:32 hours all of the period
1895   Tue, 1 Jan, 00:00   LMT → EST   +0:17:32 hours (TZ change)   UTC-5h
1896 — 1899   No changes, UTC -5 hours all of the period

1940   Sun, 28 Apr, 02:00   EST → EDT   +1 hour (DST start)   UTC-4h
1941   No changes, UTC -4 hours all of the period
1942   Mon, 9 Feb, 03:00   EDT → EWT   No offset (DST increasing)   UTC-4h
1943 — 1944   No changes, UTC -4 hours all of the period
1945   Tue, 14 Aug, 19:00   EWT → EPT   No offset (DST increasing)   UTC-4h

Thanks. Ed

Woooo! Thanks a mil. Just installed the update, redrew the chart and it was bang-on.

You guys rock. At some point when I'm not absolutely in the hole with money, I will be making a donation.
Until then, I'm glad to have been able to contribute to the project in some small way <3
