Win 7. "Help - Check Updates" freezes Planetdance

Nothing that disturbs the excellent performance of Planetdance in a very old Windows 7 system, a notebook with 2 Gb RAM. However, trying to "Help - Check for updates" causes Planetdance to freeze completely, as soon as the screen with information about updates and improvements is shown. The only way is to terminate Planetdance through the Task Manager.

I appreciate your attention. And, of course, I also thank for the constant efforts of Jean and the whole team; thank you, very much, for this impressive system that became Planetdance, a wonderful work in progress. And for sure the astrological software that receives the most care and constant improvement, reaching the level of the best, whether free or paid, nowadays.

Just checked on a win 7 pc, no problems, i think this is unique to that system. You could try help - download - update planetdance. Else you should download from the website.

Thank you so much, Jean! In fact, the issue is probably on my system. In addition to being a minor detail, it might be something that a system "Scanhealth" cleanup and a Planetdance reinstallation can solve.

Hi Jean! Please excuse the delay in replying. That issue can be fixed in a simple edit of pd.ini file. The [UpdatesForm] input must necessarily keep the ZERO value as a parameter. It seemed to me that this is due to the specification of window dimensions, right after. If the window is set to "maximized", PD seems to try to implement the established dimensions without success. This might cause freezing. In my case, just changing the value [UpdatesForm]=2 to [UpdatesForm]=0 reduced the update window and unfroze my beloved Planetdance!

- edit c:\planetdance\pd.ini just do something so that it's modified and save it.
- now start the downloaded exe, how does it go?

OK! I just modified back the entry [UpdatesForm], setting the parameter Maximized=0 to 2.
Planetdance re-maximized the update window, showing it's content and immediately freezing. I killed the PD process and reedited pd.ini in order to set Maximized=0. Planetance returned to normal.

Well, I tried to do my best to play "do something" in the hardest way I could imagine. That is, I edited pd.ini in the worst possible way.

You can count on me for new experiments...

I thought it was the whatsnew window that was causing problems so i modified the wrong code.
Does help - download - update planetdance work?

After updating, try updating again using the other method again, as an experiment, i disabled maximizing windows.
