Venus Star Point module
« on: September 18, 2021, 01:47:12 PM »
Hi Jean, Ed, and everyone else!

I've been enjoying the Venus Star Point module very much. Is there any possibility of making it work without setting a house system? This would be great for working with untimed charts. At the moment, when choosing Housesystem / None, the star's points are displayed in the wrong signs, although they are listed with their right placements in the list at the right top corner.

The author of "Venus Star Rising: A New Cosmology for the 21st Century," Arielle Guttman, gives an exception on page 79 for finding the personal VSP. She says if one is born within a week before the inception of the new VSP (she speaks of a week to ten days in her course), the person's VSP is the one after birth and not the one before birth as the primary rule goes, although, in the book, she says that both VSP's influence the individual. Is it possible to incorporate this exception rule in the module? Maybe as an additional feature that can be chosen (or not if one doesn't want to go by the rule in Arielle's book)?

P.S. Have the features of this forum changed? I couldn't find a way to attach an example chart here anymore.

Hi Sindy,
First things first, we disabled uploading images after that hack lately, however i miss it dearly myself and have enabled it again.
My test with no houses had no errors as far as i can see, see pic.

I added a checkbox 'After birth' in the top right to start 1 conjunction later, can you check if this works for you?

Hi Jean,

Thanks for the swift reply! On my PC, it's still the same after the update. The signs the VSP's fall in do not match their positions.

The 'After birth' checkbox works perfectly, but weird conjunctions are displayed in the list after the new calculation.

See pictures below.

I used the same data from helsinki but I can't reproduce the first error, didn't look at the aspects yet. This is a mystery so far, hopefully something comes up..
I asked Ed to test, works for him too.

I hjave been looking for that aspect issue but can't find anything either, maybe it's related.

Hi Jean - I think what Sindy means that list of aspects to the 5 star points is not correct. For example in the second chart above, the Sun is listed conjuncted the e point, but it is shown in the wheel most closely to the c point. Ed

Hi Jean - I think the most likely explanation for this is that Sindy is not using houses Jean, so the points are oriented to 0 Aries rather than the ascendant. As far as I can see, the actual points are calculated correctly in longitude, it's the orientation within the wheel display that is not right. Ed

How come it works for us Ed??
I have an idea, maybe ascendant is calculated wrong because of No Houses and classic planets only.
Edit: no that makes no difference here.

Ed, you didn't explain why it works for us.
Two identical horoscopes, one with placidus, another no houses, give exactly the same venus points, albeit with different asc, but otherwise equal.

Hi Jean - I don't know - the most likely explanation in my view is the no houses option. I couldn't test it because I couldn't get my wheel to show no houses. Ed

Hi Jean - I found it now - choose None from house list menu. This seems to be the problem. See screenshot. You will notice the VSPs are not in the correct longitude position in the wheel, although the actual points are listed in the correct positions. Ed

Can't replicate. >:(
A solution would be to hand this over to you since you are able to replicate. 8)

Hi Jean and Ed!

The error appears when choosing 'None' from the 'Housesystem' list in the bar and opening the VSP module after this. It doesn't appear when you first save the chart already with no houses and then open the Venus Star Point module. One option to make it work would be saving all charts with no houses, but I think there should be another way to fix the issue.

I edit transit startup, set it to no houses, don't save it, make a vsp, and it shows ok.
What are your exact steps Sindy?
