Manilius deaneries
« on: May 06, 2023, 04:48:20 PM »
Hello everyone,

I've been discovering Planetdance for a few days and I'm thrilled.

Is it possible to display the deaneries of Manilius in horoscopes?

Have a nice weekend everyone

Hi,

I'm sorry for this funny misunderstanding. ;-)
In Planetdance you call them decans. I used a translationprogram… ;-)
Manilius' Decans use the following rules, discribed in Astronomica:

characters1. Deanery2. Deanery3. Deanery
AriesAriesTaurusTwins
TaurusCancerlionVirgin
TwinsLibraScorpioSagittarius
CancerCapricornAquariusFish
LionAriesTaurusTwins
VirginCancerlionVirgin
LibraLibraScorpioSagittarius
ScorpioCapricornAquariusFish
ArcherAriesTaurusTwins
CapricornCancerlionVirgin
AquariusLibraScorpioSagittarius
FishCapricornAquariusFish

Quote

In english:
Deaneries of Ancient Astrology

Manilius [4] explains In the Astronomica another way of forming deaneries: Here the signs of the zodiac are distributed three times in their normal order (serially) to the deaneries.
Since within a sign there is often also talk of the physical, mental and spiritual deanery, namely that the respective third of the sign dominates those areas of the human being, this assignment of Manilius also seems very logical and appropriate: the first (physical) deanery is always a cardinal one , the second (spiritual) assigned to a fixed sign and the third (spiritual) to a movable sign.

This System gives very interesting results.

Greetings

Jean

Thank you!
Do you generally see a way to integrate Decans into the Wheel?
This would be very helpful by working with them more often…

Hi there - I have also added this into the Ed Greek Horoscope module.

Use Outer Wheel Display menu - Manilius' Decans.

This will add an extra ring to the wheel with the sign glyphs identifying each decan.

v.18.04: added manilius' decans as outer wheel display option - astronomica bk 4, line 294ff

Thanks. Ed

After updating Planetdance I searched for the option to activate them, but still can't find…
What do I have to do?

If you want to show the usual decans in the main wheel: use menu options - settings - classic. There will be a choice there.

If you want to show Manilius version please use the outer wheel of the Ed Greek Module. Follow the instructions above:

Use Outer Wheel Display menu - Manilius' Decans.

Hm, I use Planetdance unter Linux inside Wine.

For me, there is no new choice for Manilius…

I tried both: fresh install and update.

Hi Andy - I have incorporated them into the Ed Greek Horoscope module. You can get this at Horoscope-Classical-Ed Greek Horoscope. Use the Outer Wheel Display sub-menu and choose Manilius' Decans.

I think Jean is just pointing you to a way to show the standard decans in the main wheel. Jean maintains the Settings script so I can't add them there for you.

Thanks. Ed

Works quit well, thank you Ed.

Do you see the Chance, to integrate this Decans into the Otions-Setting-Script?

This would be genial. :-)
