Bug: outdated and backwards UTC in New Radix
« on: May 26, 2023, 03:18:35 AM »
Hi there,

This is an incredible, generous app running so well on Windows 10 otherwise! The only issues I've run into are in creating new charts, which I'm copying from my Astrodienst individually.

A lot of my database was born in the Lower Midwest, think Illinois and Indiana, where the boundary between Central and eastern time has changed not infrequently in the last half century. Inputting local birth times for the US coasts works great, but I've needed to type into "Other..." under the UT box enough times to flag it.

Also, in the "Time Exceptions" dialogue pulled up by the "..." to the right, it looks like the +/- is labeled backwards longitudinally; I select "USZ4 Zone 4 USSR -5" for Eastern Time (UTC-05:00) when Russia Time 4 should be +5, letting aside the USSR fell three decades ago.

Hi,

You mean the name should be +5 in stead of -5? Well this is how i picked it up decades ago. I don't mind if the names are old, if they work it's good enough for me (c).
I know for one, America has area's in the previous century that are hopeless regarding timezones, so many exceptions, hardly documented.

You can edit the file with those zones, it's a simple text file at c:\planetdance\cfg\pd.tim, just leave numbers and spacing intact.
Greetings from Groningen Netherlands.
