Good morning,
thanks for the news

Question/ Problem:
when I go to the Medioeval graphic, I can't visualize properly the whole infos( letters and symbols overlap). Some pictures.
I'm running Planet Dance on a laptop ( Surface, Windows),  i tried also w a bigger monitor without solving the problem.

Tried also all the layout options, but the problem still there.

Thanks for attention.

Hi Stef - this is very likely to be due to the resolution of your monitor, rather than the size of the screen. This module, which is extremely complicated to code, and which displays a lot of data on each tab, is designed for a minimum resolution of 1920 x 1080. I try to create the most flexible layout possible, using dynamic positioning wherever I can, which helps to resolve these issues. However on a lower resolution screen, there will be overlaps which are difficult to avoid. You may want to see if you have the display setting on your laptop at greater than 100%. Reducing this to 100% has helped in some cases. Can you check the resolution of your screen and let me know what it is.

Thanks. Ed

Hi Ed, thanks for your quick reply.

I reduced my monitor resolution, and reduce my display setting from 200% to 150% ( impossible to see anything with 100% display setting).

Nothing really changed a lot. I tried to change  language anf that's really helps : probably italian has longer words than English, and overlappng becomes easier. So i think I will keep the english option and 150% display setting.

Thanks for the coding, amazing work.

Thanks Stef - I'm glad you are enjoying Planetdance. It's good to hear you have been able find some workarounds.

The translation is done via a language file within Planetdance. For example, nocturnal is translated as Nocturnal=Nascita Notturna. You are right that the Italian takes more character space than the English.

I don't know if you can create your own language file, but to reduce the length of the equivalent phrases you would have to edit this file. So you would need something like Nocturnal=Nottorno. Apologies if this is not correct but I have to rely on Google Translate.

The only thing I can my end is create an abbreviations array (so Nocturnal would become N. or Noct.). This would become the default if the screen width resolution is less than 1920 but then the translation function would be lost.

All the best. Ed

Hi Ed, thanks again!

I guess I can't create my own language file, ( don't know how to do) but i would like to shorten some expression such as Nascita Notturna in Noct. o N. But, again, don't know how to do :)

Currently my screen resolution is 1920x1440.

If there's any chance i can easily edit that file, just need some instructions.

Otherwise, I can use it in English, no problem.
all the best
Stefania

What you can do, make a copy of c:\planetdance\cfg\Italian.lan and name it something like MyItalian.lan, change or add words in it, and when ready, start planetdance and choose it in Options settings language.

Hi Stef - it's worth a go. I wasn't sure if it could be done, but Planetdance is very adaptable. If you have any difficulties come back here and we should be able to help.

Hi Stefania
