Browns @ Steelers - 18 September 2023

Using Frawley's method, I think the astrology is pretty clear. Mars, being lord of the Ascendant, and signifying the favourites, sits in their opponent's angle. This is decisive testimony in favour of the Browns' physical strength toppling the Steelers. The antision of Fortune is in the Browns' angle, another decisive testimony in favour of the visiting team.

Browns to win, perhaps emphatically.

Postmatch

A big loss for Frawley, or at least my interpretation of his method.

Eagles get it done in the end. Great call Ed.

Giants @ 49ers - 21 September 2023

I was unable to make a prediction pre-match due to other commitments. However, the 49ers were clear favourites here, with 99% of the Pickwatch pundits thinking the home team would win.

The astrology supports their conclusion. The Niners have Saturn as their ruling planet and Jupiter as bound lord of the rising degree. Saturn is not well placed in the WSH second, but Jupiter is configured closely with the horizon by square. Jupiter is in its own bounds, and Saturn is in Pisces ruled by Jupiter.

The Giants have Mercury and Saturn in their corner. Neither planet is well placed, although the descendant lord, Mercury, is in dignity in its own sign Virgo.

The prediction would have been for the 49ers' win.

Post-match

The 49ers win comfortably.

I trust you are doing well Ed. Can’t wait for SB 57 rematch at Arrowhead on Sunday. I think Eagles had this game circled when the schedule came out. Enjoy your weekend :)

Hi DB - alas, no, I'm still snowed under else where, but I will have more time after March due to a personal change, so fingers crossed for the 24-25 season.

Best wishes. Ed

Hi db - thanks for the message. I'm going to be out of circulation and unable to do anything until November I'm afraid. I've been working on this in the background and I've come to the conclusion that Frawley is correct. It's not possible to use my original methodology to predict matches.

Quote
John Frawley, in his Sports Astrology books, points out the limitations of a method such as the one I devised on p. 83.

Frawley writes: "FORGET ESSENTIAL DIGNITY. FORGET ACCIDENTAL DIGNITY. FORGET RECEPTIONS....we need such a sensitive instrument for this investigation. Consider: horary questions about sport can be asked at any hour of the day....The matches themselves, however, begin only at a  limited range of times. Especially if we are concerned only with one particular sport.....If we allows these slow-changing testimonies into judgement, we would give all these matches the same result....So we must go for the ephemeral."

In my view, Frawley is absolutely right, and there is now no doubt in my mind that this is why my methodology failed, despite some promising results. The next option is to explore his methodology in more detail. Frawley focuses on the Moon, Fortune, antiscions in his method and he claims that he gets good results. When I experimented with this last year, it did seem promising, but I need a more rigorous set of trials. Unfortunately this will have to wait until later in the year.

All the best and enjoy the football!

Ed

Hi there - for your interest, here is the latest version of a script based on Frawley's methodology of sports prediction.

Looking good.
