Mean Node settings
« on: February 13, 2024, 08:59:11 AM »
Hi Jean,

I see that every time I close and reopen the PD, the mean node is calculated as being on, despite the fact I see it not checked in the Options / Settings.

For not using the mean node I have to check and uncheck the option in Settings.

Is it set as default to be on, even if is not seen as on?

Or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you
All the best,

I can't duplicate that error. The mean/true node state is remembered after you exit and start again here, and calculations are correct.

Hi Jean,

Here below are the steps I follow. Maybe you could reproduce it as well.

1) Open PD, verify if the option Mean Node is checked or not and, with it being unchecked I open a file from my database. I see one value of the Node.

2) Go to Options / Settings, check and then uncheck the Mean Node option and once again leave it unchecked, then close the file already opened

3) Open the same file from my database and now the Node has anothe value.

So which one is the mean and which one is the true value of the Node, keeping in mind that in both cases the Mean Node option is left unchecked?

PS: So far I knew my Node value, calculated as True is 23° 54' Aquarius and the Mean one is 25° 25'

Thank you

I think i found it. If you change the setting, current charts are recalculated *but not saved*, so if you don't save a chart the setting after restart will be correct but because you didn't save you don't see it on the chart. A bit strange yes but it has been this way forever.

What do you mean by "saving" the chart? How to save it? The data is saved already in the database.

Do you refer only to the newly casted charts to be saved? Because regarding the already saved ones in the database ... how to save them? Should I click on Edit, then save the chart?

Everytime I open my chart (or any other saved) chart from the database it is calculated with Mean Node, despite the Mean Node is shown unchecked. So everytime I open a chart from my database I should not forget to check and then uncheck the Mean Node option ?

So the bug, in my opinion is that calculates the charts using Mean Node value, even if the Mean Node option is not checked. This is the problem.

The thing you refered to, about saving a chart after changing the Mean Node option, that is another thing.

Ah, I think I understand now. So you say that a chart is saved with the settings of Node used in the moment of casting.

Indeed, just like those other toggles, pars and parallax. Charts are not saved after changing a setting.
However if you turn on options settings Ask save on Close it will remind you to save modified charts if you close the chart or the program.
