SolarArc and asteroids
« on: October 10, 2024, 08:00:12 PM »
Hello Jean,
I have been working all morning on adding some asteroids to one of my modules and was having problems with the solar arc positions.
I thought I had done something wrong and just couldn't find the error until I realised that PD is showing the positions of the secondary progression in the solar arcs for the asteroids.
Can you please check this.
Volker

I have to learn to ignore request / reports when i come home in the evening. I've been searching for  almost an hour but it was meant to be a quiet evening coming home from my choir. So hard to let it be, i guess i just have to ignore forum posts in the evening.

I grew up with fixed office and working hours. Today we have been influenced to answer immediately. That is certainly not healthy and I think we need to backtrack a bit.
I solved my problem by calculating the solar arc positions of the asteroids using the same method as the lunar arc.
It would still be nice if you could get the correct positions of asteroids with Calculate Progression - Solar Arc too.
But there is no rush.
Thanks.

For all the additional asteroids in the column i have no solution, for now i just disabled them.

October 11
- Fixed wrong longitudes for objects in Progression Solar Arc and Progression User Arc.

I have been at it for more than two hours, it always takes a long time to figure out what i meant when i wrote it and there are a lot of hacks in handling those extra objects.

So i can begin my day now...  ;D ???

I wouldn't have thought that the asteroids would cause such problems.

Sometimes enlightenment comes unexpectedly.

What always amazes me about errors is that with so many thousands of users, I always wonder if no one has noticed or if they just don't want to be the one with the bad news.

Thank you for your efforts and have a relaxing weekend.

Yes i wonder about that too. Lately i've discovered that the dateformat yyyy/mm/dd which is used in many countries did not work correctly. The program is 40 years old and no-one ever reported this.
